ARCH ENEMY's "Beast Of Man" re-recording posted!

It always sucks if you heard it first time around. The songs are still good, but its a snapshot of an era that makes a classic a classic imo. I really don't think modernising something is making it 'better'. Just fresh product to sell? Same as Stormblast. I'll take a thin shitty original recording any day thanks.

These Ammott guys can still play the shit out of the guitar though! But yeah, they peak with the Burning Japan track with this song imo.

Pretty disrespectful IMO to be bashing the band on Andy's forum, since they are such an important cornerstone of his career and are good friends of his. Obviously you guys are entitled to your opinions, but consider the context of where you write them. Andy has been very generous/helpful to all of us here, and a few of you are basically saying "fuck you" in return.

Calling Mike Amott a "hack" though - seriously WTF - you cannot deny the man's awesome skills as a guitarist and songwriter, even if his music isn't your cup of tea or whatever. I'm hoping for your sake, Bekanor, that that statement was sarcasm.

Yeah agreed.

I like the rawness of what it sounds, and really curious (as stated 2 posts above) to the high quality songs.

To me, I enjoy both old AE & New. Music and mix wise new AE more. I liked Burning Bridges, but when Andy took the desk with WoS, I was sold to AE!

Hmmm, there's a lot of old v new, raw v polished.
Let's be honest here, there's really nothing new that's out that has that raw vibe, it was that way because the recording was that way and so was the music. If TROAL was not old remixed songs, and a new album, would we be here saying it's not raw wah wah wah. No, we'd be congratulating Andy on a great job and thankfully putting the bands recordings back up to where they should have been last album. I think it sounds great, I personally don't favour Johan's vocals. It's a monotonic growl that get's tiresome and well, boring. That's my opinion anyways.

Anyway, I look forward to getting my hands on this lovely piece when it's out here!

Also, I noticed Ermz said about a band being on it's last legs etc. Personally after watching the new DVD, I realised those songs from ROTT are really good, the recording ruins them on CD though and I think they still have a lot in them. Maybe this blast from the past will also help tickle a few of their ideas hmm???

Cheers,
~Chris
