ARCH ENEMY's "Beast Of Man" re-recording posted!

Come to think of it, I have never liked re-recorded songs by any band. You simply cannot beat the originals, no matter how bad "quality" they are. The re-recorded tracks always seem to sound lifeless/uninspired compared to the original :erk: Maybe it's because the players know the song too well and only do a routine performance, instead of putting their heart's blood into it like you do when it's the first time recording the songs? The only thing that comes close is Vader's XXV.

So how does that differ from Johans work? :heh:

I'm really looking forward to hearing this. To much bitching going on about this IMO.

Lol! Let me explain. It is a statement in a general context not specifically in this album. There are riffs that her voice fits well but mainly with heavier riffs but lately the AE albuns have too much melodies and her voice dont fit well and its too annoying. I dont like it.

Woe, where art thou, intro of Disciples of the Watch :erk:

Hmm, not too familiar with the original version of that one - but I think it was because I discovered both "First Strike" and a few of the original tunes simultaneously that I very promptly sided with the heaviness (tuning, production, deeper vox) of the newer; might've been different had I been a Testament fan earlier on though!

Sounds like another great mix from Andy! I've been an Arch Enemy fan from the very beginning and it will be cool to hear what they do with the rest of the songs.

And the short interlude track before it goes to the same league:

Hmm, yeah, it is odd that they left that out, since I remember similar-sounding intros on other songs on that album (can't remember which though, I haven't listened to it in awhile - guess I should acquire it again, though legitimately this time :D)

I don't really like the sound of the mix :p It's so powerless compared to the rawness of the original... And yep, Angela can't touch Johan's voice.

I agree. Although I think angela could have done a good job, as I like her voice but I don't like her delivery. Johan fucking owned his delivery, it was so unique. I also think this version was a bit too slow tempo wise. The version of beast of man from burning japan 1999 is the way I best remember that song. I'm pretty sure this entire album will dissapoint me just because of my pre-conceived thoughts of how the songs should be played.

This sounds awesome.

LOL I think It's funny how Johan era fans think Angela is boring and Angela era fans think Johan is boring. Personally I think Johan's voice is pretty monotone, boring and lifeless. I think Angela has more range, probably due to the fact that she works with Melissa Cross.

But that's just me.

Not to curb the enthusiasm and all that, but isn't a band re-recording old material basically an admission that they are on their last legs?

not necessarily...i think a lot of times people get shit productions when they're starting out, and want to go back and retrack and remix shit to do it justice

I think the Mix sounds good. I prefer the original vocals on this song but from the production aspect, I like it more than the original.

I'm not a big Johan fan, and I also am not a big fan of the deep shifted sounding vocals under Angela's voice...I'd rather have just her actual voice...I prefer her style over his, and I love the heavy production sound they have.
