Trickster Garm showcases his previously-unexplored falsetto range; Hellhammer offers a percussive display that teeters between the organic and the inhuman; Sverd's keys pepper the spaces with masterful confidence. In a perfect world (far from the one we inhabit), lead-off track "Kinetic" would be a global hit single.

The Sham Mirrors is likely Arcturus' grand achievement, pulling together various facets of their previous releases and molding it into a bold new shape.

As described by their charismatic frontman, Trickster G.: "This is classically-engendered synthesized metal/rock to vaudeville/cabaret-tinged progressive rock conceptuals on to a myriad of deformations into jazz, experimental/Alt. electronics, beats,

I really enjoy The Sham Mirrors and that can be said for anything else released on The End Records. I don't know if it can rival La Masquerade Infernale, but it's definitely one of my favorite albums of the year. Garm is a genius. :)

I have the first album = fukin worthless

how is the albums between the first and last???
Aspera (first album) is freaking awesome! I mean.. I guess if you dont really like black metal it wouldnt be your sorta thing. But I love this album. It may be my fav of theirs. Great black metal. Its not like freakin MayheM or anything. La Masquerade is also amazing. I probably tie LMI and TSM. As for disguised masters.. I personally dont like it.. its too techo-ish for my taste. I do love the re-recording of Du Nordavind though. Arcturus rules!

i dont think people really understand just how addictive this album is. i mean, the songs are SO hypnotic, it's beyond words. ad absurdum and nightmare heaven are simply incredible. the production is perfect. hell hammers drumming is flawless and on another level. garms vocals are unparalleled. this is the album of the year and one of the greatest albums ever released. this album will be remembered forever. seriously guys, this album IS that good.

The Sham Mirrors is in my 'Top 5' for the year for sure! :D

Won't know exactly where it sit until the end of the year though.....

Definitely a good album, but somehow I don't listen to it too often (except the tracks "Nightmare Heaven", "Collapse Generation" and, of course, "Radical Cut"). Well done, but not necessarily something that I want to listen to regularly.
