Are You In A Band?

Okay someone else other than The Greys has to listen to and review my boyfriend's band.

eh, it's not terrible, just generic, the solos & harmonies are competent but nothing i haven't heard 40 times this month. still, the lead stuff is probably the best part, i guess.

at least there's some diversity in the patterns and tempos from song to song, the overall structure is more complex than alot of other shit around (on myspace), it just needs something that doesn't sound like a million other things i've heard already.

vocals aren't bad. not any weaker than the vocals of any other death metal band. nothing to pee yourself over.

the breakdowns are really quite weak (coming from someone who likes breakdowns), and the drums could be 50x better, but since i'm guessing he's really a guitarist and not a drummer then that's excusable.

also his guitar tone fucking sucks a big fucked off one, IMHO.

i dunno, if it was my friend's band i'd prolly go to his show if he bought the beer.

I'm in (count them) two fucking dreadful bands, which consist of the same band members. We play roughly every two years, usually on nostalgiac get togethers, drunk.

Wombat 18, a "comedy" (for which read "unfunny") pseudo-thrash band in the vein of Acid Reign or Lawnmower Deth

songs:

Die (Richard Madely)
Peas or Beans
Symptom of the Puniverse
Ace of Spodes
I don't wear a tie
Fucking Bastards
Ironed Man

and

Dirtbox, a doom(ish) band that veers between crap Sabbath covers and some Paradise Lost gothic era doom/death.

songs:

Dying Rapture
Crawlspace Angel
The Ghoul (very bad cover)
Burning a sinner (very bad cover)
The Ritual (not a cover)
Iron Man (bad cover)
War Pigs (bad cover)
Sweet Leaf (bad cover)
Lord of this World (not a bad cover)
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (bad cover)
Orgasmatron (bad cover)
Dethroned Emperor (not bad cover)
Procreation of the Wicked (not bad cover)
Enter the Dragon-Bitch

I'm the worst band member in both, aside from Spode-Oh, the worlds worst guitarist/banjo player.

I play guitar and bass and sing/scream and me and a couple of friends of mine (who totally pwn me at guitar which is why I took up bass and singing) have been trying to put a band together but ther are no fucking drummers in our town so...
We'll see what happens when I go to college

Good for you, Ender. You know, you've gone from being an illiterate knob jockey to an all round good egg pretty quickly!:kickass:

Take a look at the signature, or at the UM interview section. If someone really interested, the new shit is alternative Black Metal, so everyone should be curios. hehe
BTW, I play nearly everything which has strings, even string tangas...

its not according to Susperia's bfs band, but I guess if to make "dog growling" right or... errmm... good, professionally - it should sound pretty interesting.

no, I mean that as a bad thing. there is no phrasing for the vocals, it just sounds like literally a dog barking, and its not cool or evil soundin.

yea, I got what you meant, thats why I said that its not according to that band. I just like the idea of animals growling in humans voice. In general. Of course if it will sound brutal and done high-gradely.

have you seen V For Vendetta yet?

me and the old lady went last night... it's probably the best non-"indie" (big budget) movie i've seen since Fight Club... it's actually an honest and interesting work of art but it's also got a distinctly "revolutionary" political agenda....

the 'VVVVV' reference in it reminded me of you :D

Nah fuck movies tbh.

My band.

We play black metal. We have three songs to date. Production quality increases with each recording. Our second song, "Death Rides On Black Winds", is probably our best, though it's off time at some parts. Influenced by earlier black metal such as Darkthrone, Mayhem, Burzum, etc. If you like rawer black metal, you'll like us. I'd like some feedback, but please try not to be too mean. I might cry. Oh, and we know "echoes" is spelled wrong, but Soundclick censors it otherwise, thinking we're trying to put "hoes".

He is, actually, really immature... A few of them are. My boyfriend isn't like that. He can goof around and be immature sometimes, but for the most part he's light years ahead of the rest of them.

And about the guy saying his growling isn't "different and unique" enough. How f-ing unique do you expect a growl to be?? It's a f-ing growl. Sure there are variations, but there's not that much you can do with it to make it real different other than put effects on it. Which he does not.

EDIT: WOW, WOW, you're in a band with Mark Lyon. You cannot say anything critcizing anyone. For the rest of your life. Ray is a genius compared to that kid.
