Assassin's Creed for the PC

I'm downloading... er, acquiring it anyway. The guys on the x64 forums said if you kill UAC it doesn't have issues, usually. The first thing I DID when installing this was turn UAC off. ;)

One more thing: Go into your Audio Devices under Control Panel and pull back the hardware acceleration slider one click...I had problems with no audio in the beginning and everyone said do that and it's fine.

I read that several times. They need to patch that.

Update: Vista doesn't allow acceleration, so that solves that.

I didn't like the PC version, crashes WAY too often.... didn't like the console version much either for that matter, gameplay sucked dick.

On the other hand, as it was mentioned, I shall inform you all that GTA4 fucking rocks.

It's coming, but the patch isn't ready yet. Apparently, they just ported it directly to the PC without any patches or anything...but that's the only thing that I had trouble with...it's been running great so far.

Nah, they had plenty of testing... several beta versions leaked online at various points, all of them crashing more than the last due to their attempts at fixing shit.

They pretty much gave up on making it flawless, as their team had too much porting trouble (granted, you'd think XNA would make these things much easier, considering that was part of its intent), and essentially have left it a buggy steaming pile of game.

What exactly about the gameplay "sucked dick"? I thought it was all very fluid and combat was simple yet brilliant.

It was boring and repetitive? Go to this city and kill this guy, after talking to some other douche. Follow this guy for 5 minutes and then listen in on his conversation, etc. etc. etc.

Killing beggers did not make up for that.

Mine runs perfectly...but then again, I'm running twin dual core 3.00 Gig processors, 2 gigs of RAM and a GeForce 8800 GTS with 512mb of RAM...the new one with the new processor that runs faster than the one with the 600-something megs of RAM. It's not even breaking a sweat. No slowdown whatsoever...even with Crysis.

This is true, actually. I think that what saved the game was that it was so immense and combat was pretty cool as well, that you didn't mind the repetitiveness.

For combat, this game kicks ass. For gameplay that sucks you in like a black hole, go with The Witcher.

Heh, its not the slowdowns and what not thats buggy (to me atleast). I have no need to complain about that, similar specs and what not... (little more RAM though)...

Problem is in the games coding. Poorly ported game = crashy crashy. Some people get lucky, other people get fucked in the ass. It all depends on how your computer interprets it.

You have an E8400 too? or a quad?

Fuck the quad, man. I don't need another heater in my computer room.

I was going to get one, then I realized not only did it suck lots of power, but it's not even faster than the twin duals...if anything, slower. It's powerful, yeah, but there isn't any game or program that can fully utilize it's power right now, so every program you run on it just bogs the system down even more.

It's like driving a Ferrari on a two lane road instead of four.

I guess I just got lucky, then. That really sucks that they didn't fix the shit for others.

I found F.E.A.R. for 5 euros the other day...completely in italian, but for five bucks, fuck it. That game has some interesting things about it, but it just looks like Counter Strike to me. The weapons are as gay as Liberace. Glad I didn't buy it retail.

It's Ubisoft... everyone just expects this from them when it comes to PC ports. The Onimusha 3 and Devil May Cry 3 ports (outsourced to Ubisoft) should have been the last... they should have given up on it after those as they obviously have no fucking idea what they're doing, but no, they just had to keep going.

I've actually never had any problems with Ubisoft...Ghost Recon works like a charm, not even patched. I have to be careful here, though...usually games are multi-lingual, but sometimes you'll get fucked with just Italian language, like I did with Crysis. I downloaded the english file from a torrent site and it ended up being english language, Russian titles and subtitles.

Anyone remember Deus Ex? I finished both 1 and 2 and it's still my favorite FPS/RPG.

Yeah, they're fine when the games are developed for the PC...

Love quite a few of their FPS.

But their ports, god-awful. Which is the reason why Capcom dropped them after the PC port of Resident Evil 4, and is doing Devil May Cry 4 in house.
