The thing with interviews is, they are on demand either on the spot or scheduled by Metal Blade or the magazine or webzine editors. Most of the interviews were initiated by me since I have been dealing with most of the promotional whoring. It’s not as a collective assignment unless the initiative is taken by the other members to scout out their own interviews. This keeps everything from getting to confusing. I always keep an eye out for new media and ways to generate more publicity for the band, and follow up with a two hit combo of a request for a review and interview.

At the beginning of an albums release the label sends out an email saying they have all these interviews lined up. They have all of our phone numbers unless their database is not updated by the members themselves, and if they can’t get a hold of someone regardless if they can do it or not, they will call the number of the person who is always available to complete the interview so there is no rescheduling going on. To separate the time for interview people to call the members at their house or to work around work schedules would be mayhem for me, that’s why it’s up to the rest of the band to hook themselves up with these kind of opportunities.

Mark told me once he doesn’t care much for interviews, but I’m thinking they are important for each member to be out there as much as the other band member to generate way more interest so the interviews don’t sound monotonous. I know Andy wants strictly the magazine ones, although I have not scene one good webzine interview he has done that plugs the band in every way possible. Most of the time when I did schedule interviews with our band members, a month has past before I get the interviews back and the zines tend to get pissed about that.

Every time we issue huge news on our website it’s always good to request interviews to the same places you have already done an interview with, and most are obliged to have another interview but done by another member of the band that they have not worked with yet. That’s where the other band members come in, if you want interviews (let me know) which zine or magazine you want to get scheduled for. Almost each interview we have documented has an email of the person that made the interview, and editor contact emails are always featured on their main sites.
