Atlanta Cupcake Factory

JenniferLynn: ok, now I don't feel so bad. Still it was such a cute little shop...

We need to get a phone/text tree going ladies!

Hi Ladies!

Yes, I will be at the SX luncheon on Saturday. Tomorrow (Fri) I am getting together with friends at the Vortex. Should we venture for cupcakes after Saturday's SX luncheon????

Find me at the venue and we can discuss!

Did you guys happen to see there was another designer cupcake place right on Peachtree down from the venue? Cici's Cupcakes I think it was called.

Progmetalprincess: Sorry, didn't see this post until returning home. I swear I'm the only PP attendee that doesn't have a funky enough phone to check the forum or post to facebook on! So I had to rely on the computer in the hotel lobby to communicate.

Next year we will get all of this ironed out before the fest! I've heard of other funky places too - like something called "A Piece of Cake" that literally sells pieces of cake. I didn't know there was another cute cupcake shop in Atlanta - so we can add that to the list too.

Next year I will make sure I am able to communicate via a smart phone and we will have ourselves and awesome time trying these places out.

Damn, we should court these people for the festival - think of how welcoming that would be if they had a little stand of goodies and coffee and tea (waiting for our beer lovin' peers to poo poo this one!)

Poo poo. BEEEEEER!!!!!!!!!!!

No, really, I think BABS is on to something. I would have paid dearly for some sugar and caffeine by late Saturday night!

Next year, we will definitely have to plan better! Thursday would actually be a better day to do a run like that, as the schedule isn't quite so jam-packed.

Maybe with early planning we can call ahead and set something up. Maybe get the Artmore Management involved to receive them and hold until after the event too.

I made it over to the Atlanta Cupcake Factory and grabbed some cupcakes before hopping on the subway to the airport. The owner Tom was really nice. They were really pleased I had been wanting to visit for months. They even gave me a refrigerator magnet.

The fiance and I tried four different ones: sugar cookie/salted caramel, el diablo (think mexican hot chocolate), chocolate/peanut butter/bacon, and sweet potato bourbon. We liked all of them. The salted caramel frosting was yummy but the cake wasn't as moist as the others. El diablo was probably my favorite because of the spiciness mixed with the sweet chocolate. Chocolate/peanut butter/bacon was chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting topped with bacon bits it was quite tasty. Sweet potato bourbon was sweet potato cake with bourbon in it and cream cheese frosting. That one took a minute to get used to but was good.

It would be a great idea to have them cater for the festival. :) Even if we can't it would be great to put together something to make a trip together to go visit. Unfortunately I won't be attending next year because I'm getting married next October and will be way too busy and financially strapped to make it work. Let me know if you guys make it over there though. :)

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

Sorry we didn't make it this year, but hopefully we can coordinate something for next year. Although I think I'll pass on the chocolate/peanut butter/bacon one. LOVE chocolate...and peanut butter...and bacon. But together? :ill:

Thanks for the congratulations!

Haha yeah it's one of those strange but wonderful combinations. It's one of those things where you've just got to jump in and do it. :)
