he is six years old. is this really bad? i read the wikipedia entry about lyme disease and i know anecdotal stuff but i mean is it permanent, like herpes? is he going to have neurological damage when he's 30?
 
As long as it doesn't remain active it won't have any long term autoimmune effects. Hope he feels better soon! Fragmentally it stays forever but not necessarily 'active' forever respectively. Ie, he should be ok.
 
just this weekend they were reporting that the guy who was supposed to be Florida State's starting quarterback had been found weeks ago wandering in a disheveled state, claiming to be "God". Of course, everyone thought he was hopped up on dope but it turns out it was actually Lyme disease and he will miss the entire football season while being treated!
