Cant Stop the Serenity 2009 in Boston
Posted by TheHey on May 19th, 2009
The New England Browncoats and the Coolidge Corner Theatre announce the 4th annual Cant Stop the Serenity Event featuring Dr. Horribles Sing-Along Blog. The New England Browncoats present the 4th Annual Cant Stop the Serenity Event at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, MA at midnight on Friday and Saturday June 19th and 20th, 2009.
Cant Stop the Serenity is a global fundraising effort featuring charity screenings of Joss Whedons 2005 film Serenity to benefit Equality Now. In the last three years, the New England Browncoats have raised over $10,000, and in total over $160,000 has been raised for Equality Now around the world.
This year, in addition to Serenity, we are happy to announce that we will also be hosting the Boston-area big screen premiere of Dr. Horribles Sing-Along Blog, Joss Whedons awardwinning Internet musical sensation.
Fans of Joss Whedon show Serenity on his birthday to honor him and to raise money for his favorite charity, Equality Now. Equality Now (http://equalitynow.org/) works to end violence and discrimination against women and girls around the world through the mobilization of public pressure.
In addition to raising money for Equality Now, we will also be collecting non-perishable food items for the Greater Boston Food Bank. In the past three years the New England Browncoats have collected over 2,000 lbs. of food for the GBFB. Anyone that brings a donation will be eligible for raffle prizes, including an actual costume used in the film Serenity.
Tickets for this event will be $15 in advance and $20 the day of the show and are now available at the Coolidge Corner Theatre Box Office or online at http://www.coolidge.org.
Details on the event will be listed and updated at http://www.cstsboston.com.

If anyone feels like going but has lodging concerns, it took me half an hour to get to that theater last time and anyone is quite welcome to crash here. I would so after-party but last midnight screening of something there came with all sorts of elaborate plans which we pretty much all looked at and said "Fuck. 3 a.m. BEEEEED."
