yeah so i got a massive raise at work today, but the catch is i have to make my division (the largest in the company and apparently i'm now second in line behind the CEO) grow by 25% over the course of 2006. last year we grew 47%, much of it thanks to me, but that was in a booming housing market so it was almost accidental.

so yeah, are there any books, websites, or other crap i should check out? i never thought i would be this dude, but i'm okay with it. :tickled:

@lizard, i'm no longer dreading mine, i'll be able to afford if i owe now. :dopey:

edit: cheers for the congrats ya'll.

For starters, CONGRATS dude, that's fucking excellent. I shall hoist one in your honor tonight (while watching the Rangers retire Messier's #11) :kickass:

On topic: hmmm...a tough question, but "Who Moved My Cheese" is an excellent quick read about learning to adapt with times and employ effective modern business strategies to an ever-adapting world. Also, Neil Rackham's "SPIN Selling" is a must-read series on the best ways to listen to clients, take their needs & transition them into winning solutions from YOUR company.

Good luck.

yeah, i'm totally turning into a suit fag, wtf. and just last night i upped my "get the fuck out" goal to 1/1/2007, but now i'm probably going to have to stick around for a few more years. oh well, as long as i'm out of SoCal by 30, i'll consider it a success.

Tila?! shit i can afford a 2-bedroom house now! :loco:

this is always in the back of my mind of course, but at least now i'll be able to save up the money to fund a healthy escape. i don't plan on buying a house unless the market really settles down, but if that happens my salary will probably settle too since like, i'm in the housing industry.

long story short, the NADpartment stays for cheap rent (relative term).

well, when/if you move to canadar, if you move to vancouver, you can stay at my place (i should have one by then) for as long as you need to and only pay for food and any other 'additional' costs.
