Right now I'm using a cheapy CAD tom and kick mics. And Joe Meek Overheads.

Probably great for live applications, less good in studio. I'd be stoked to get an Audix DP6 set though to go with my two D6 kick/tom mics.

A friend of mine, well not really a friend but some guy I more or less know, just bought the Fusion7 from Guitar Center. He saw on eBay people are selling new kits for $300 and got them to drop their price down to that price. I guess that has nothing to do with your post now that I actually read it.

For $100 it's probably worth it if you really can't afford to upgrade and you're using shittier mics.
