Avid

Yeah, avid has been "about to go out of business" for a decade+. We'll see what happens.
I'm sure avid's tenuous state played into the exodus but I wouldn't overlook the fact that startups love to lure top talent with huge salaries/beni's and it's likely the Avid guys wouldn't even need to relocate.

I have seen this coming since the time when they did not wanna go Native while it was more than obvious they were already behind trying to keep the DSP thing going on. It just couldn't work in the long term, and they lost a lot of time then. They are constantly behind in terms of functionality, or trying to cash in from them (having people pay for the number of tracks, stuff like that). They only survive because of the communality studios like to have with it, and the habits they got with PT. Without it, they are just making another DAW which implements functions years after the competition.

Now maybe this is not a big loss for Avid. These guys stayed a decade in the company, what if they were the reason why PT got downwards and the replacement guys have more of a down to earth envision ?

11could have been great but the adc is just... well, a joke really.
It's the 1st time I've considered learning another daw after God knows how many years... no wonder the official reaper site says "refugees welcome".

Maybe if PT gets sold it'll have a better future - maybe a big change is actually needed.

I mentioned PT11 but for the last 6 days I've been refraining from
mixing as the adc in 10 was completely off with VIs. Fortunately,
today, I found the solution in another forum…
going to prefereneces/midi tab and unchecking all 3 boxes in the adc for external devices makes it work again.

Also, for PT11, if the VI is on an audio track and you control+command click on "cmp" in mix view (turns blue), then it works ok.

Thanks,
T.
