Awaken the Gaurdian Expanded

Fuck! The regular disc, plus a bonus disc of demos & live material & top it off with a DVD of Live Material!!!! It's a steal for $18.00!!!!!

:OMG: I am all over that. I'm liking this bonus DVD with releases more and more.

I picked this up and the music sounds better than ever. The bonus DVD thing leaves a little to be desired... Not that it is totally bad but I am not sure what a band tries to prove by releasing and very poor quality video??? I know, sell another disc... make another buck.

I am glad that it was basically free (the DVD that is).

And hell yeah Brent, the bonus DVD packaging is a frickin' great idea. I suppose that my KISS upbringing has made me a more visual music fan.

You gotta understand though, like they said on the DVD, the footage on the DVD is the only known live footage of that era of the band. A lot of people would KILL for anything from that era (Hell, I know I would). And hell, its still a damn good performance.

Anyway, about the re-release... Got it the day it came out (for 14 bucks no less!). Already knew this album is totally legendary, one of the top 10 Metal albums ever, with one of the greatest songs ever (Guardian), one of the coolest chorus's ever (Exodus), and one of the coolest 2 minute build ups ever (Prelude To Ruin). And now, it sounds a whole lot better. Great Remastering job. The second disc of demos and live tracks is phenomenal, Especially The Sorceress, Guardian, and a Thrashed up version of "Die Young". Oh, and the beginning riff to "Fata Morgana" sounds so much cooler live.

Easily among the best 14 dollars I have ever spent. All Metalhead need this album.

Yes their performance is Killer. I agree with you there. I guess it just sucks that video wasn't a more fine tuned medium "back in the days" because I know of about three dozen bands that I would "kill" to have some footage of... I am sure that most every band has recorded shows but the quality just blows after years of age...

Oh well... Yes the whole package is a great deal and sounds great!

That's probably why I'm a more visual fan too. I don't know how this slipped by me. Awaken the Guardian is one of my favorites Fates discs and a bonus DVD to boot.

Bottomline Metal Blade, does agreat job with their reissues, I also loved what they did with the Armored Saint Symbol of Salvation set...
As for the DVD? Man, it was from '86. I;m just happy there's soemthing floating around from that era, period! Why do fans have to be such ingrates?!

Can't wait to purchase this for the 4th time (my LP's got ripped off twice, and my CD stole in 96)

Agreed! Agreed! Agreed!

What is there to be grateful for? I suppose I should be "thankful" to Metal Blade or Fates Warning because they released something, to me, that is VERY subpar not in performance or quality of music but in quality of the recording which I know is years and years old. I wasn't saying anything about the DVD other than it is of shit quality. It is cool that they included something like this in this package and basically provided it for free in the package.

Hell even one of my favorite bands Armored Saint did this with A Trip Thru Red Times... a bunch of shit quality vid clips from years ago and hell yeah it was cool. I don't think that I would consider myself being grateful or not for them releasing it. Actually Saint did this to us twice! Truthfully I would rather them spend time and effort and money on a something new... like a new disc!

Ingrate huh? Not in my opinion.
