I just bought the Fates Warning remaster.
I'm glad to see Metal Blade finally spent 10 bucks on something for this band.
2 CDS and 1 DVD
Cool demos and live stuff.
I wish the sound quality on the DVD was better but it is explained at the beginning of the DVD that it is the only known video of the ATG lineup.

nice. :headbang:

Is it a significant improvement in sound quality? Like, you can actually listen to the whole album without your ears bleeding? 'Cause that would be sweet. It's good to know the video is actually the ATG lineup. I'll have to pick that up.

Answer meeeeeeeeeee, save my wiiIIIIiiiIIIiiiilll, have you forgotten meeee?

The actual CD does sound better. I can hear the kick drum and everything.
The live material on the second disc sounds pretty good. I do wish they were able to get that sound on the DVD, but oh well. It's worth it anyway.

I have to chime in on this thread.
I am so glad that Metal Blade finally got off thier asses, and did something great for this band.
They are one of the most influential bands of my generation as far as prog goes. They are legends, and should have gotten more from thier label.
I'm think the new remaster sounds great, but I wish the last remaster would have been this good. I've bought this CD 3 times now :Spin:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Threshold is now highly regarded as possibly the best British progressive metal bands in existence, as well as one of the best progressive rock/metal bands in the world, thanks to a solid recording career. Though they can (and occasionally do) display their chops, they are less interested with flashy musicianship and complex time changes than they are with crafting solid melodic progressive tunes. The influences are familiar (a bit of Yes-ish vocal harmonies, a touch of Dream Theater here and there), but their songwriting and approach truly places them above the crowd. Clearly one of the best in the business.

1) Is ReBirth constantly on some sort of medication? Or is it rather that he needs to be? I can't tell

2) Threshold used to be pretty good but they stopped being in any way progressive about 4 albums ago, and so at that point in no way can they even begin to touch ANY era of Fates. They just got very commercial-sounding melodic metal recently. I've heard the early proggier stuff w/Damien Wilson is good though, but I could take or leave the later stuff. I enjoyed some of it for a few weeks but got bored.
