Just saw this on Blabbermouth. This would be a fun show if they coome around. I'm eagerly awaiting tour dates...

'80s Texas rock legends AXE, known for such classic rock anthems as "Rock and Roll Party In The Streets" and "Battles", have reformed and are now prepared to take the rock world by storm. The band recently performed several special engagements and the reaction has been none less than fervid! When AXE this summer opened for QUEENSRŸCHE at Sunken Garden Amphitheater in San Antonio to an attendance of over 5,000, and reportedly the audience literally went wild. Six weeks later, AXE was back in San Antonio headling at Hemisfair Park to a capacity crowd.

Bob Harris (vocals/keyboards) and Brad Banhagel (guitar/vocals) put the band back together with the blessing of founder Bobby Barth. The current lineup also includes Chris Lewis (drums), Dave Landis (guitar), Alex Salinas (keyboards) and newest member, Tommy Luna (bass).

"When Bob Harris and Brad Banhagel approached me about putting AXE back on the road, I had mixed feelings," original band leader Bobby Barth recently commented. "It made me re-examine all the years, all the tragedies and triumphs the band has endured. Most American fans of AXE are not aware that the band stopped the day that Michael Osborne was killed. Soon after, AXE was back in both Europe and Japan, releasing another four CDs and touring several times. A lot of the strength that I needed to continue on came from my friendship with Bob Harris and what I consider to be one of the greatest rock voices in the world. We went on over the years to write and produce several records together, both for AXE and for many others. We wrote and produced, what is without a doubt, songs and CDs that are far superior to anything we recorded in the earlier days of AXE. Those songs, and that later band, were never given a chance here in America, and that is a shame. So it is with that in mind that I give my blessing and lend whatever support to I can to their endeavor, I have their promise to remain true to the music, and you never know when I might show up."

I'm a fan of them but without the original line-up it doesn't work for me.

Axe had a couple classic albums with Offering and Nemesis that still get played at least a couple times per year in my hallowed halls. Oddly, I've not been inspired to find out what ever happened to them.

I did a little research after seeing this thread and learned all kinds of new things! First and foremost, they've actually released a few new albums since I lost track of them after Nemesis in '84. Also learned they broke up because their guitarist died in a car accident that involved Bobby Barth as well (although, obviously he lived). Also learned Bobby Barth played on Blackfoot's Vertical Smiles albums (another of my classics).

Anyone out there heard anything from Axe's later albums V or The Crown?

Let's see if I can make head or tails out fo this. "Nemesis" line-up:

Bobby Barth = lead vocals/lead guitar
Michael Osborne = rhythm guitra, vocals
Wayne Haner = bass
Ted Mueller = drums
Edgar Riley Jr. = keyboards, vocals

Can anyone tell me why you put a band together and pick the name of a defunct band where NOT a single of the original members is on it. Hell I'm going to recruit three guys and reformed the Beatles!

I like Axe but Wyvern is right. This is an Axe cover band

I never thought on that. From that point of view it's fine with me. Almost kinda the actual Thin Lizzy (I call the Tribute Lizzy :D).

lol. there actually is enough living people to reform the beatles. pete best the original drummer, paul mccartney, ringo starr, and the original bass player before george harrison

I have the Offering LP. I've always liked Axe, but I'm not so sure I can get into a so called "resurrection" with no original members. Why isn't Barth at least in this latest incarnation? And I thought that Molly Hatchet continuing with only 1 original member was bad.
