A great culmination of my Maiden adventure :)
The band seemed fired up... no doubt still feeling the effects from the Long Beach show, and the San Diego crowd did not disappoint...
The sound was a little off to my liking, but I'm not complaining... I was there dammit :) Dio got a HUGE reaction, setting the stage for a fired up Maiden... and me and my sis watched it from the 12th row...
Saw Jeff Milne there... :)
I'm glad I was there...

12th Row ~ Nice! Musta seemed like Bruce was going to leap from the monitor straight on yer head!
I was sooooo close to making the drive~ the 949 and 562 shows were soooo much fun I didn't want it to end! Glad you had a fun show Keyz :)

:hotjump: First Maiden show....LOVED IT!!! Only complaint, didn't really care for Janick Gers and his showboating guitar tricks. Is that wrong? I was really blown away when Ronnie James Dio came out, he's short! And old!! But, he rocked, sounded great!! These are the songs I remember form last night in San Diego...

Number of the beast

Trooper

Die with your boots on

Revelations

Hallowed be thy name

Wildest Dreams

Wicker Man

The Clansman

The Clairvoyant

Fear of the dark

Iron maiden

2 minutes to midnight

Run to the Hills

The Clansman was great with Bruce ! Awesome show !! 13th row seat 6

I've never been all that impressed with Janick... but it's true, he toned it down a lot... I mean, think about it... he doesn't hump his guitar anymore... ugh! Remember that live video (at least I have that video) where Bruce tells him to stop doing that or he'll go blind?
I especially don't like the fact that he plays quite a few of Adrian's solos... but then again, he's been playing them longer...
What bothered me about the Dio and Motorhead sets? The solos... they played an hour and 30 minutes respectively... they both have material to play several 90 minute sets... why do solos???

I was also at the San Diego show. I was also supposed to go to the Long Beach show, but due to a family emergency, I missed it. :erk: Luckily, everything is ok now though.

But the San Diego show kicked ass!!!! I think I even liked it better than the MSG show. The crowd had a lot of energy and it seemed to me that the band fed off of that. I was also 10 rows from the stage, so that made it exciting too. I know Maiden is saying that they will only play small venues, but I do hope that they come back to New York. And hopefully play a longer set next time, too.

I also really like Dio. I agree with Harriswannabe: He is short, and he is old, but that man can sing!!!

"THERE'S A BIG BLACK SHIP COMMING OVER ME" ......WAAIIIIINNNNNNNNWWWWWWOOO..

thats the part when dio started glowing red. hey did anybody see weeman from jack ass at the san diego show? lol

No, it's, "There's a big, black shape looking up at me."

Wee Man was also at the show at Irvine.

If you're talking about the guy that Dio called on stage to help sing Heaven and Hell in SD, no it was not. He was older and stouter... a wee man yes, but not the guy that is on Jackass.
My guess is that he was a member of the crew. My seat was back near the pen of the mixing boards, and I saw him in there during the show as well.

I don't know why so many people dislike Janick. Not only is he an amazing guitarist that can do amazing solos, he is a mad man on stage and seems to be a nice and funny guy. The man is amazing. End.

No question he's a great guitar player, or Bruce would not have asked him to be in his first solo record, or join Maiden... but it felt a bit weird watching Harris and Murray looking like the rock gods they are, and then there's this fruit humping his guitar... LOL

The midgit with Dio (did you notice they were the same height, hahaha) was "the world champion midgit wreslter". They called him Meatball. We met him back stage.

Where the hell is this midgit wrestling by the way?!?!?! I gotta see that! I'd be their biggest fan. If anybody knows, give me the 411.

When I got my ticket from will call it had "Upgrade" written on the envelope and somehow I ended up 2 rows in front of you. But the night before you seemed to be far more then 2 rows closer to the stage then I was.

Your sister asked where I got my Trooper "Club shirt", you can tell her there's a place selling them through ebay. It's currently item number 3344525756. They have various sizes available.

And you're right about the solos, I sat down during those.

Glad to see that I wasn't the only one. :ill: The place almost became Snoozfest!

He gave me a card with the website addy for midget wrestling, but it seems to be a porno website now. Looks like it didn't go over too big. hehehehe! :tickled:

I saw them at the Tweeter Center a few weeks ago. That show is still reverberating in my ears. Motorhead played first and played loud and Dio can really move around considering he's practically a mummy. I just wish I knew more of their songs so I could appreciate it much more than I did.

But when Maiden came out - man - who thought they would have opened with Number of the Beast like that. I'm really glad I went and I can't wait till Dance of Death hits the shelves.
