Finally I got a computer back home!

Is not the final version (I'm waiting for the definitive processor to come and be installed), and I'm updating propgramas like crazy, not to mention copying what I did saved on my old backups.

I hope to be fully functiuonal as for software in a couple of days, and as hardware in a couple of weeks or before.

Now recovering as much MP3s as possible

I had to postwhore a lot to recover

Congrats Wyv, what have you been using? Friends computer, library, work? All of the above?

Work, but it has so many filters that surfing the next is like wiping your buttocks with sandpaper :yell:

Most of my friends have not computer at home, or don't have broadband. Internet still expensive in this country (not to mention computers) and are not widely available as in USA. As for libraries HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH (fell from chair)...ah, ah, ah, sorry. No this is the third world, computer availability in the libraries (3-4 we have) is nil.

I'm finishing copying the rest of the backup to the HD. I already installed all the programs.

I have to cope with some glitches tho', my new computer is a clone (non-brand PC) so I'm trying to see how my old HP keyboard can interact with all the special buttons it has. Also I got to get familiar with some new software, but all these are peanuts compared to the anguish of the days without the machine. Damn if I'm not a slave to the chip!

Been able to surf the net, playing music and have another source of distraction for the leisure time worth every penny.

I completely empathize with you Wyv! Glad to hear things are moving along and you are postwhoring to your hearts content! :tickled: I still have the old cpu/harddrive at work. My brother-in-law got some sort of external thing and it will allow him to get into the system to retrieve my docs/music/pics. I am hoping it's all there! :erk:

Huh, I guess I just assumed you had the same luxuries I do, Wyv. Beg pardon. You (personally) are pretty hooked up technology-wise so I thought it was the same for everybody in Costa Rica. I need to get schooled on your area of the world.

No need for apologies my dear friend ;).
Actually since there the availability for public computers is extremely low, most people rely on their own (or an Internet cafe) computer. Still most people I know are not Internet junkies like me  and they don't look for broadband (very expensive here), nor they look for top computers like I do.

I should have studied computers, but I don't know if I would have enjoyed them as much as I do being a hobby if they were my profession.

P.S. The new machine is finally running fine with all software in order, now I'll have to wait for the promised processor and the lady will be ready to rock.
