Band/Artist of the week

Glorior Belli too. It's a wee bit more on the melodic side than the bands Regimental listed but their "Ô Laudate Dominvs" is knocking at the door to my 2005 top 10 right now.

By the way, this is my album of the week:

So majestic, so ethereal...
Of course, none of you will agree, since there are 34562 Bathory clones no one's ever heard of that need discovering. :loco:

nothing but Graveland for the most part.

Hey Regimental dude, can you the new Obtest, Mael Mordha and The Black League CDs in? I can't find those fuckers anywhere.

And thanks for the fast shipping on all those Manegarm CDs I recently ordered.

So what is the one act or artist that has been occupying your time more than everything else this week?.

Nice thread idea, really.

In hindsight, it might be worth posting threads for each individual band entry otherwise the single thread just builds and builds and we probably lose some great suggestions.

In other words, RC needs to dedicate more individual threads to recommended bands if you guys think they're worth checking out. Goddamn I miss that, we used to do that all the time.

For me, While Heaven Wept - Of Empires Forlorn & All Souls' Day - Into The Mourning.

Godamnit, I cannot fricking wait for the new While Heaven Wept. :kickass:

Just want to second IoftheStorm's Solstice recommendation AND Doomcifer's While Heaven Wept.

The latter's "Empires Forlorn" just gets more stunning with each listen. Now there's a band who knows how to carry a tune. Great songwriting.

By the way, I'm not sure just how many people recognize the influence of Solstice in recent years. Not that they're genre defining or anything, but at minimum, they inspire. Those riffs are phenomenal, sitting deep in that tube amp production.

I think I tried that before a couple of times and usually the response was something like "omfgz wtf N00B!!!!".

Yep. Two of the best albums ever imho. WHW's songwriting is matched by very, very, VERY few.

Since my Dirge - And Shall the Sky Descend thread (best album ever, just so you know) got intolerably snobbed, I refrain from opening band threads.

Though, looking back at the thread about The Evpatoria Report getting at least a few people into the band, it's more a matter of the right guys seeing the right thread at the right time (that is within 5 minutes of thread opening, the time it usually takes for ignored threads to disappear from page 1) ;)
