Band on the run - Iraqi rockers seek new home

Yeah, it's amazing really... so many bands sing about war, human tragedy, inhuman injustice... and this band is right in the middle of it and have been face to face with all of it. I hope they can get in the states and make some metal.

They aren't the first band with this situation though. There was another one recently, but Salem definitely comes to mind also.

thats a good read, and i'll be sure to check out that movie. if anyone wants a reason to fight in iraq, this is a good one. politics aside, people should be able to play what they want.

edit: 50 bucks headed their way

there is an article somewhere in the zine section about an iranian band. they have alot of the same problems, its sad. thankfully its not that way in the entire region. virgin records in doha has a pretty sweet metal section.

 "Following our leader Saddam Hussein, We'll make them fall, We'll drive them insane!"

On one hand it's just another sad example of westernization in the middle east, but if they write all their stuff like that I'm interested. The movie looks to be worth watching.

WTF

Feel sorry for them... as somebody who's lived in a muslim country (albeit a very open, liberal one), I know how freaking hard it can be for some of these people. It's like they're stuck in 16th century Spain during the Inquisition.

Definitely will have to check out the movie.

Gotta commend the dedication, takes some guts. Not many of us could claim that our rehearsal place was bombed. Goodluck to them, I hope they survive the turmoil in their country.

I have a Muslim friend from school, he is Arab, and knows a little bit of Armenian, he is a great follower of metal. I learn things from him, and i teach things to him.
