I figured it might be interesting to get a sense of which bands we really felty would finally appear at PP but were once again left off the bill for one reason or another. Here is my list with a short explanation:

1. Labyrinth- New album; great catalog; power-prog to a tee.

2. Poverty's No Crime- Another solid release in Save My Soul; perfect for a 3 slot

3. Eldritch- Another band with extensive catalog that i just felt would have made the bill next year.

4. Tomorrow's Eve- Their last 2 albums were incredible imo.

This post is simply meant to stir up a discussion on the topic; not to question Glenn's decisions. I'm sure there are various reasons as to why these bands couldn't make it/were never approached, etc...

Andromeda would have been on the list, but Glenn took care of that one, and I understood the explanation of 1 more album as well as the phenomenal DVD they released.

Big surprise for me would have to be Nocturnal Rites. They were/are one of the most talked about bands when wish-list threads come up. I don't think they'd be a headliner though. Good 3-5 slot depending on how many bands is my guess.

At Vance would be another one. I think this band would appeal to everyone who attends.

Jeff Scott soto in some form or another. I think JSS would rule the 3rd slot like CIIC did.

All 3 of these have been a hot topic of conversation here off and on since I started attending at PPIII.

Ditto for Nocturnal Rites. I doubt they're a headliner, but they could easily take a 3 or 4 slot.

Nightingale. Not shocked, but surprised they haven't been back over. I believe their last PP USA appearance was in 01? This precedes almost all of their major-visibility albums (i.e. Alive Again and Invisible, and I'm sure the new one is good although i don't have it). If they did return, I'm sure they'd play to a happy audience with a higher fan-ratio than they must have previously (I wasn't there, so I don't know what kind of response they got).

Planet X. I figure they'd be a shoe-in for this kind of fest. Maybe Derek's not interested. Or how about another instrumental band a'la Canvas Solaris, etc.

Cloudscape seemed ready made for this festival (new band, lots of buzz, sound fits right in).

I'm not exactly shocked, but I'm still expecting Falconer and Mob Rules to fill the 3rd tier power metal slot one day.

Falconer needs to come to PP, Iced Earth as well, Power Quest and Freedom Call would be nice. Ivory Tower is a good prog band that could use the rub of PP, if Beautiful Sin is still around that would be cool. Galynerus or Ark Storm from Japan would work, Black Majesty would too. Engage from Richmond, VA would be a good Showcase band. Wintersun would be great, as would Naio Ssaion and Grave Digger. I could go on and on, as I have learned over the years they are so many bands that could be on this stage, I'll stop for now by saying Doro, Leaves' Eyes, Dark Empire, and DragonForce would be excellent choices as well.
