Bands you are shocked are not appearing next year...

None.

Every year there's at least 100 bands that are qualified for the roster. I'm disappointed some aren't, but not surprised. Hammers of Misfortune may get their day yet ;)

THE PRETTY FUCKING MAIDS. Everyone I talked to at Merch was saying how "it had to be this year" for the Maids and yet time and time again, there are bands significantly less qualified and relevent who get the nod. It's really fucking bugging me. I'm just waiting like a motherfucker to be announcing on every goddamned thread someday "I told you so". I can't fucking wait.

I'm not really shocked at any of the bands announced so far, but I will be very surprised if Rhapsody doesn't end up being one of the headliners.

I figured it might be interesting to get a sense of which bands we really felty would finally appear at PP but were once again left off the bill for one reason or another. Here is my list with a short explanation:

3. Eldritch- Another band with extensive catalog that i just felt would have made the bill next year.

Definately agree.... Eldritch would be perfect for ProgPower.... They put on a good live show too!!!!

I'm usually shocked when I guess more than one band right! This time, I predicted Andromeda and Spheric Universe Experience. I never would have guessed the other bands on the bill, but that's never been a problem with me in the past. I've always liked the majority of the bands each year, so I don't think too much about who's not playing.

Stay metal. Never rust.
Met-Al

Yep - Now that the second album is out, I thought these guys were a slam-dunk for PPIX. Maybe it's because they already have other U.S. dates scheduled for 2008. (??)

yea seriously! isolate is one of the best cds in the genre in years, i figured the same as you.

Mob Rules is another that comes to mind; has anyone seen the dvd? Another quality band that is awesome live as exhibited in their dvd. Hopefully they will hit the PP stage in 09!

They were great at Barfest and would go over well at PP I think...

others for me are duh... Nocturnal Rites, DivineFire, Heed, Machine Men, Kiuas, Brainstorm, Dionysus, and Diablo.

You know, being a dick about it isn't the way to get them to the PP stage. If you want to see them so bad, why don't you book them locally? I assume you're throwing sponsorship bids at Glenn for them every year, but did you ever consider maybe THEY don't want to come HERE? Maybe unlikely. I'd hope .. if they do show up some festival.. that they don't "bomb" like Pink Cream 69 did*.

*this is my own opinion. I didn't think PC69 fit into the fest.
