Okay then lets see how many posts I get on this one!.
So which bands are out there you definatley would not wish to see play at Bloodstock 04?.

Stratovarious are the name that first springs to mind for me, as after buying an album by them it went striaght back. Sounds like friggin Europe on speed!
......and any others of these awful keyboard laden so called power metal bands.

Talking of Power Metal I was reading a Pantera article from the Cowboys from Hell era the other day and they discribed themselves as Power Metal. Now they ARE powerful and don't use shitty parpy keyboards either.

Twisted Sister were deadly at Wacken but only coz it was the
middle of the night and everyone was drunk and in the mood
for some sillyness. Don't really think they'd get the same vibe
at all in the Assembly Rooms - too small for their antics.

Ah you never saw or heard of there legendry Marquee performances. They are even better in a small venue complete with jumping, shouting, fist throwing motherfuckers!! :worship:

If you'd been at Wacken you'd have seen Stratovarius blow Slayer away. Also Pantera were Thrash.

Totally agree.

Basically I'd NOT like to see any Nu, Rap or Punk. I'd hate to see Maiden at Bloodstock. Also no shitty 90s alternative grunge.

No band that's sold out to play an Ozfest or Download should be included too.

I wouldn't quite go that far. Slayer's sound was a bit dodgy for the
first few songs but after that it was sweet. Stratovarius just got too
samey for me ... was glad they stopped in the end. Freedom Call
and Twisted Tower Dire were much better.

Well except for Arch Enemy that is :)

Any of those Norwegian indie bands like Mayhem
or Carpathian Forest are right out.

:)

The problem is they were never in, which is a great shame as they would attract a lot of people.
Carpathian Forest for 04!!!!!!!!!!! :headbang:

Would be cool to have some Death/Black metal bands playing at 04.
Long live Vomitory!!!

1)Twisted sister would be fukin birlliant any where u see em, the venue dont bloody matter and to see em at bloodstock would be great

2) i agree with eagle, no nu, punk, grunge or bands from donnington, except maiden, id love maiden to be there

3)Pantera are thrash hands down, they are a thrash band in the same league as megadeth and anthrax, but just for the record i think their cool

4) id like to see bands that ive never herd of in the classic metal and power metal catagories, as alot of my fav bands i hadnt herd of before i went bloodstock, so id liek to discover more but its also always nice to see a band u no and love there, i like some of the extreme metal too so a bit of that woudnt be bad either

I can't see much difference between Stratovarius and lets say Power Quest, Dragon Force or even Sonata Arctica, They are like AOR + Power Metal. It's rubbish.

I don't reall want to see Nightwish or Edguy either.

I don't wanna see Hammerfall at all.

I want more raw stuff like MARSHALL LAW, TANKARD, GRAVE DIGGER, HOLOCAUST, JAGUAR, IMPELLITTERI you name it.

OK I am power metal fan but most of them are annoying.

Apart from Grave Digger how many of the bands you've named still exist and if they do could they sell out at their local pub? I'm not doubting any of the band's you've mentioned quality or abilty but currently they're not in the same league as the likes of Hammerfall, Stratovarius, Power Quest or Dragonforce. If they were they'd be playing the main stages at the top festivals.

If any of the bands you've mentioned have website's then please post their urls as I'd be interested in having a look.

Cheers

Hahaha are you making me laugh? Those bands I've mentioned are much more influencial and powerfull than fake posers like Manowar or Hammerfall!!!!!! Dragon Force sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I guess you've never heard of google? Lazy...

Lee Morris of Paradise Lost was in semi NWOBHM Marshall Law and currently he's helping them out to record new material and they can kick any power metal bands in the WORLD. Because of media and record company snub ( Calling them Priest clone! ) they never recieved much attention apart from REAL metal fans. Their Best Of album "POWER CRAZY" is out now from Sanctuary label. And I've been listning to POWER CRAZY for past 6 months!!!! 6 MONTHS! No joke it's been on my CD and MD player!!!!!

Scottish NWOBHM Holocaust who's been going on for 25 years and their songs has been covered by METALLICA, GAMMA RAY and Six Feet Under and has new album PRIMAL a killer brutal organic record.

IMPELLITTERI the best Blackmore clone, this guy can kick Yngwie Malmsteen, Axel Rudi Pell, Joe Stump etc He is a BIG and famous guitarist influence bassed on Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow with the twist of Megadeth and Pantera alike. He almost joined Graham Bonnet's Alcatrazz but he didn't because he was too young then.
He is massive in Japan. He also has been around since 1987 ish.

JAGUAR the another NWOBHM band they MADE or INVENTED the WORD POWER METAL back in 1981 or 1982. NEAT RECORDS materials are now re issued by Sanctuary, check the song AXE CRAZY.

TANKARD is veteran German Thrash metallers and they've been around for very long time they have classic album called Zombie Attack from Noise. They were on the bill likes of Wacken, Bang Your Head, Blind Guardian Festivals etc.

Your metal knowridge is not very good is it?

Marshall Law currently do not have home page at the moment but others do.

Jaguar: www.jaguar-online.com
Impellitteri: www.rapture.net/impellitteri/
Tankard: www.tankard.org

Another under rated band / artist

TEN: www.ten-online.com
John Sykes great singer/guitarist ( Street Fighter, Tygers Of Pan Tang, Thin Lizzy, White Snake, Blue Murder and now Sykes ): www.johnsykes.com

So there. I think I've said enough to soft head bangers.

Regards

I guess I'll see you lot at the festival today.

A lot of fests cater for a nostalgia spot. Diamond Head at Wacken this year. Saracen at Bloodstock. Tankard at Blind Guardian Open Air

You obviously have better Metal Knowledge then because I'm unfamiliar with the term 'metal knowridge'!

Marshall Law need to get up to speed for it's nigh on impossible to promote yourself without a web page in this day and age.

Pity I didn't see you there. We'll have to catch up at '04' for some beers.

Full report for '03' will be posted tomorrow. Good to see Dragonforce & Power Quest going down so well and with the crowd.

Eagle: Just because a band plays a big comertial fest don't mean that they're a sell out, Meshuggah and Cradle of Filth have played Ozfest (and no way are either sell outs, esp. Cradle if you've heard how raw their new album is) and Arch Enemy played Download.

Cruel Humanity and Mercury Rain NEED bigger sets, they played superbly and were very well attended but the sets were IMHO too short. Illuminatus did great (they had some hideous technical problems but thats not their fault) and Biomechanical were ace again:)
