Baratro Entity Undead Blood Beyond The Sand (Three Way Split)

By Russell Garwood
With this split, featuring five songs from both Baratro and Entity, and three from Undead, you certainly get quite a bit of music for your money. The three death metal acts featured have consistently unforgiving sounds; while not the most brutal bands out there, thirteen tracks should be enough to placate the most demanding fans of extremity.
For the most part the music isnt particularly technical, instead focusing on its bludgeoning qualities Baratro have occasional melodic touches and tend to be slightly slower in pace than their split-mates, while Entity have a more grinding feel to their assault. Undead, with dual vocal attacks and less guttural growls (plus the most legible logo) provide some contrast while undoubtedly heavy, they have a more accessible edge.
If you are looking for some new death metal, "Blood Beyond The Sand" is a good place to begin three promising bands on a CD full of material for a reasonable price. While originality isnt overflowing, most brutal/death fans will appreciate Baratro, Entity and Undead, whose music is in general - competently performed and of a high standard.
