On that note, a question to those who have attended the 70,000 Tons cruise...
How much "room" so to speak, is there for non-metal fans? In other words, are the areas of the cruise ship that are a bit more secluded, away from the music/stages/concerts/craziness where people can actually relax?
There's a big chance I'll "have to be" at 70,000 Tons of Metal next year (lol ) and I am debating whether or not to have the wife join. However, she's not a metalhead and she'd be miserable at a cruiseship where you can't relax. Any input?
I haven't been on a true metal cruise, just the Rock Legends (70's era bands) and Monster's of Rock (80's era bands). But I can guaranty you the top decks are going to be loud and crowded, especially when a band is playing the outdoor stage, which is most of the time. All the deck bars will be full and deckchairs in short-supply. But the side decks with the lifeboats will mostly likely be quiet and crowd free. It's not on the way to the important things like food, beer and fun. Likewise most of the internal shopping and restaurant areas will be relatively normal. Just be prepared to run into groups of loud mouthed drunks. I had a few that wanted to shout about their unsolicited political beliefs before, inside and leaving the elevators. The bow auditorium will of course be noisy as well as any lounges and bars with a small stage and band. The quietest spot will probably be a library (assuming your ship has one) and the fine dining areas. The main cafeterias will be loud, noisy and sometimes pushy as people dive-in to quickly eat between sets. Oh and any disco area will be clear of any metalheads, unless there's a signing session in the same room. :Spin:
Surprisingly my wife was really into several of the bands on MoR cruise. She's currently more country and boy-band than rock. But I think the MoR cruise did reconnect her with the music of her teenage years.
