So Ive been doing some research and I'm trying to find the cheapest and easiest solution to program live bass drops AND trigger a kick drum from the same drum module.

I know the Alesis DM5 is good for triggering kick drums, but I haven't found any good information as to if it has a good bass drop sample (808, sub drop, bass boom).

What would you recommend? I'm looking for the most affordable option.

i don't know...the drummer from my former band had one of these...and it was awesome. We used it for sub basses and external triggering for the bassdrum. With the SD card you can transfer your most favorite sneap forum samples to the spds to kick some ass live :D

p.s.: The negative side is that it allows no multisamples...but better than nothing

a drum module that allows you to use your own samples? why is this not ridiculously famous?

I've seen a shit load of bands with a spd-s. Most of them don't trigger the kick though. but they really don't need to. Anyway, if I have some extra funds i'm buying the spd-s. Seems more conviniet and reliable then a laptop setup.

I saw After the Burial this week, and the guitarist used a Boss RC-2 to trigger the sub hit. My drummer uses a DM-5 with a trigger attached to a floor tom specifically for the sub hit. I dont know the size, but its a big tom. The miked tom plus the sub sample sounds HUGE through the right sound system.

Spd-S from Roland... You can use it for Kick Triggering with an external trigger AND you can load your own samples via an sd card. So you can use the pads on the SPD-S for subdrops and the external trigger in for the kick.

they don't have separate outputs though and most bands turn their 808s up loud as fuck, which makes me drop the fader that the kick is also on, fucking with my mix

if you're gonna get one just make sure you dial in all your levels properly

That's why the DM pro is sick. 6 outputs. 3 go to DI/FOH and the other 3 go to drummers mixer.

FUck yes!
