How do you guys go about adding yours to a song if you use them...do you generate the waves yourself..if so could you recommend any program?

any sample links would be appreciated

Anyone know what kinda stuff people use for the more cinema sub drops- like the ones all over lord of the rings and the dark knight and pretty much every epic thats come out in the last 10 years?
Been working on some trailers for college and no matter what I do I can't even touch em! pitched down doors, combined all sorts of pitched down sounds but haven't gotten anything close to 'em!

When we prepared for the Iron Sky (its still in production) foley stuff at we did with my room mate, for those "incoming huge horde of enemies" rumbles I took a Röde NT5 mic, turned it 45 degrees off my face, then blowed gently and slowly turned it towards me. Then we pitchshifted it down 2 octaves and got something like this (just recorded it, its just an example and not that well executed):

Then we used hot stoves and drops of water for explosions, falling books for bullets etc. Just be creative

thats great- its the rumble I was missing, I can get the initial sound but never even with slowing stuff down the rumble- This is gonna make a huge difference to my project where I'm workin on music for trailers!

How can I download the file in that link? this has happened to me before I cant seem to do it..

I heard you can make a sine wave in like, sound forge or something, then alter it any way you want....but i have no clue how to do this

all these subdrops work, but to get the the most out of them your going to have to pitch shift them to fit the tuning of the song. A subdrop with guitars in drop d will not sound as heavy as a subdrop in drop A# unless you pitch it down some.

Except I think that is a load of bull. I bet you a dollar that you can't tell the 7 hertz difference between D and A# subdrops (A# = 29hz, D = 36hz) :Smokedev:
