bass drum heads?

what kick drum heads have you guys found that sound best for recording?

i'm replacing heads on my kick and i have just never found the perfect head for tracking idk why, if any of you guys have any suggestions let me know.

Remo Powerstroke 3 is a favourite on here.
Remo Ebony Pinstripe is good for a really clicky sound. Aquarian Super Kick II is apparently a bit thicker sounding.

EMAD is my personal preference, good blend of click and punch when tunes properly

Emad are great sounding heads. Powerstroke 3 is what I got when skinning my kit recently, sounds great with the falam pad, I've been very happy with it.

Bad luck here with 24 inch EMAD. Sounds plastic as fuck. Much better with EQ3

EMAD for deep, booming kick.

Powerstroke 3 for punchier, cleaner kick.

No Aquarians allowed in my studio.

Weird, always get great low end off emads here, recorded with a 24inch kick and didn't even end up using samples on the recording.

the sound im looking for is more along the lines of a august burns red kick drum tone, so im kinda just thinking about picking up the powerstroke 3

whats your thoughts on this?

also btw the kick im getting this for is a 20x20 ocdp
so its not like a great big huge kick drum

Weird, always get great low end off emads here, recorded with a 24inch kick and didn't even end up using samples on the recording.

+1; my drum tech has two different 24" kicks and the EMAD sounds like thunder. Wouldn't recommend it for double bass work though.
