just recording this band and thought that for the $ this is quite a nice bass.

it's a Harley Benton Neck-Thru 5-string.....350€ new

here's how it sounds:

HB bass

no post EQ....compression comes from safe sound audio P1 which I'm using as DI

Sounds good but it's not really my idea of "cheap" when talking about bass guitars. I just want to get one so that I can record bass for my ideas, but I can't squeeze it in my budget. Anyway, cool tone :)

Sounds good, I also have a Harley Benton bass for home recording.
It sounds good, but pickups have really low output, neck feels like plastic, strings are SUPER high to the fretboard, it's a nightmare to setup, plays like ASS...
However, in the record it can sound good if you tweak it good enough.
The one I have is: http://www.thomann.de/es/harley_benton_hbb500tbk_5string_ebass.htm
The neckthru one was sold some time ago, now it's discontinued
