Hmmm dunno, but as we all know there IS outstanding bass playing (Steve Harris!)...but I don't know if it should be called shred. Since the bass is RHYTHM, and as far as I know, shred is MELODY. But there's "keyboard shred" ( Pasi Hiltula, Janne Warman etc) if you want.

Another great bass player name Steve to check out is Steve DiGieorgio. He's a killer bass player. Licks, shred, and tastefull bass lines. I'm guessing nobody's thought to mention him yet. Best albums to check out are anything by his own band Sadus, or the Death album, "Individiual Thought Patterns", or the Control Denied album, "The Fragine Art of Existance". Steve is one of my favorite metal and overall players. Currently he's playing with Testament

Heh, I really want to play bass myself. One of my friends plays guitar and he's really good....but whenever he plays by himself I always think 'god....guitars (even with heavy distortion and downtuning) sound so weak and thin without any bass to back them up!'

Then again, I want to play drums and do vocals too..... erm.

I dunno, anything except guitars.

mmmm. harmonica.

bass is a killer instrument, my weapon of choice. im one of those people who actually started on bass. not guitar player who needed a band so switched to bass! rare, i know, all stare in awe. hahahaha

DiGiorgio is a great bassist for sure. there are alot of talented bass players, but i dont think ive ever heard shred. hehe. *works on my arpegios*

Bass and screaming here :) although I'm a bit old (20) I practise like crazy and hope to be good enough to front a melodeath band one day!
And maybe (if I get good at what I'm doing now) I wanna play guitar one day too...btw, I used to play acoustic guitar

Hahaha, one of the best bassists in my opinion is Sean Malone, he is a fucking genius on bass. :-)
Sean Malone, damn, nobody really talks about him here too much, he kicked major ass in Cynic and his material with Gordian Knot is thoroughly enjoyable, truly one of the greats.

BTW, Webster shreds, and have you ever heard of a guy named Cliff Burton, I believe he did and instrumental called Anesthesia(Pulling Teeth). That is damn shreddy.
