bass tone advice needed

Okay, guys. I have been offered a 1x18 Carvin cabinet for $250. I have heard a 1x18 is too overpowering. Should I consider it as part of my rig? I've heard it works best when bridged to 10 inch speakers, but right now I only have a 1x15 cabinet.

What do you guys suggest?

Well you can always cut out lows and sub-lows but it's not so easy to boost them.
If the tone gets too fat insert a capacitor in the signal chain (after the compressor or distortion device). It should roll off some lows smoothly.
The resistance of a cap to a certain frequency is 1/(2*pi*f*C), so the bigger the cap the less lows it will roll off.
I'd presonally try the new cab in my new rig first, BTW. It's also nice to think if you can carry the stuff.
