So I finally picked up the materials for my Bass Traps this weekend. So far I've made a couple traps and one

ceiling cloud. I'm renting a new house, so I will have to be careful not to modify anything. For this reason, I'll be

making 4 ceiling clouds to go around the light fixture in the middle of the room instead of just one big one. I'll also

be hanging furring strips on the walls to hang the bass traps from since the walls are panneling. This will actually

be kinda cool, because I'll be able to just move them around on hooks to change whatever I want to.
The room is pretty small ( 13' x 14' x 7.5' ), but I think I can make it work.

Sorry I didn't take any pics of the process so far, but my fiance went to a baby shower today and took the camera

with her. I'll take more as I go along.

I went with IIG 1280 industrial board because it's so cheap, and you can't beat the price. You're looking at 240

dollars worth right here.

Here's my room...

Here's the cloud and two traps that I've made already. I used red and purple felt to cover them. A little pricey, but it

looks really nice.

And this is as close to Bailey's as you can get without your eyes getting wet.

Oh, and one more for now. This is the cloud pretty much finished. I might put a couple more of the dark trim on it just for looks, but I'm not sure yet.

lol @ the baileys. I wish I could treat my room but the room I'm using is temporary. I'd rather get some sweet monitors.

Just build treatment you can take with you. The monitors are only as good as the room. I've learned this the hard way over time. My room treatment will be fully collapsible.

Looks great!
can we get a rundown of the costs?

So far this is what the pieces cost. I'll do a better run down once it's all done. I'm keep receipts.

Insulation $240.00 for 33 2x4 4" panels.
Fabric $4.49 a yard for the felt
$1.50 - $2.00 a yard for cheaper backing fabric.
Wood .90 cents for enough for one bass trap.
$12.00 for enough for one 6'x4' cloud.

The traps use a little less than a yard of good fabric and 2 feet of cheap fabric, and the clouds use 3 yards of good fabric and about 2 yards of cheap fabric.

Actually, I guess that's easy math to calculate the entire project, but I'm going to veg out for a bit.

I can't wait til this is up and done.

It's still coming along slowly. Here's some pics of the coulds I'm working on. I've hung one up so far in my mixing room. I have the frames ready to go for all my wall traps too. Just gotta start wrapping them on my days off.

Haha, totally a few "practice holes". We'll be patching them up in a day or two, but it seemed impossible to find the studs. They're somewhere between 24 and 26 inches apart, and not exactly straight. The edge of the cloud is about a foot away from the edge of the light enclosure. It looks a lot closer in the picture.
