I guess there's a lot of bassists here :p so I thought I'd better post this here than in the Sun Caged forum, where you can usually find me.

Bass troubleshooting:

There's this guitar solo I still need a bass part for. Whatever I try, whatever I play, it doesn't seem to sound right. There's a lot of repeating in the solo (6x the same riff at 3 different positions) with open E's on the second guitar.
Just playing along has not given me a solution yet.

What do you guys usually do when you just can't seem to find that right line?

(no, I don't think playing an open E all along is a solution ;) )

The second guitar in this case is just open E string and the drums plays the triplet eights with accent on 2 and 4.
The bassline doesn't seem to come naturally this time, so I have to "respond" to the solo.
Or at least, that's how I feel about it right now...

It's 6x the same riff at 3 diferent positions? Try to elaborate something over these 3 positions, diferent from the solo and trying keep in touch with the drums. It's always about the drums. Or some chords. Or harmonics. Lemon Scent. Don't know...
