Hi!

I just recorded a bassdrum that I like. It sound relatively good but it makes too much "click" instead of "splash" (->Metallica Black Album).

I know I could use samples and I know Metallica used samples, too. But maybe someone has an idea to turn the click more into platsch, splash, if you know what I mean.

As I said the bassdrum sounds not bad and in this direction but not enough with all guitars and keys together.

I tried a C4 and an expander with longer attack to cut the clicky transient, but it's not enough.

Just find the frequency that the "click" is at and notch it. Find a slightly lower frequency somewhere in the hi mids and boost it for that "platsch" you're talking about.

Yeah.. well.. it's a hassle isn't it. Getting real acoustic sounds is always fun and when it comes to drums, there are very few shortcuts. You just got to have the right raw material to start with. If it sounds to clicky... there isn't much you can do about it. Change the heads, change the mics and positioning, change the beater... change the drummer :loco:

Now it's too late...

Ideed when I recorded it I had in mind that I will trigger bassdrum.
BUT: since the whole kit sounds good without any samples I now have the ambition not to use any samples...we will see, when it comes to mixing in November I hope.
