From Under the Sign of the Black Mark...

underthesignoftheblackmark_446.jpg

We often talk about 'turning points' or 'pivotal moments' in the history of metal. Well, this song probably defines that better than most.

Enter the Eternal Fire :kickass: x infinity

Bathory in itself is a completely different league from others, defining and outdoing so many types of killer metal which came later or with Bathory.

Best band ever, and Under the Sign is perhaps THE quintessential album from the black metal era.

It is mindblowing. You listen to this album, this song in particular and you immediately realize the influence it had on Burzum.

For your listening pleasure, here is ENTER THE ETERNAL FIRE !!!!!!

Permit me on your behalf: :kickass:

but in the case of circus_brimstone:

Together we power.

Enter The Eternal Fire

Leave the world of mortals to walk into the mist to stalk unto the other side
Plains of otherness
The utter emptiness
Where time have ceased and dark and light collide
Crossing the river of death and water cold
Slowly walking up the bridge
The jewelled bridge I walk for what seems a lifetime
In the night it's jewels glow
There on the other side
On shore of no return
The one for me awaits
Cannot avoid the eyes
In which the fire burns
Comed this far it is too late

And He calls my name
First a whispering then louder
And he wants me to follow
And to Enter the Eternal Fire......

I walk this endless night
His eyes the only light
Repeatedly he whispers my name
Fingers move and twist
Through crimson thick dark mist and voices cry of agony and pain
Close now to his kingdom
The bleak world dark and still
I follow the voice whispering my name
Approach the gate of sin
Opened up to let me in and there, He stand in flames
The price now I must pay for eternity my soul his claim
For years of pleasures, victory and gold
The one who stand in flames
Now rise and walk my way and reach out for my soul

And He calls my name
First a whispering then louder
And he wants me to follow
And to fall down. The Eternal Fire......

I stand at the jaws of the pit
The heat scorch my flesh
The fall seem never to end
My hair burn
My eyes can't see
The flames slowly eat my soul
The pain tears my mind
Hear my cries oh Lord
Have mercy oh Lord
This can't be
Raging flames all over me
Inferno of heat
Oh no, oh no, oh noooooo, noooooo, noooooo......

My friends often listen to Under the Sign and talk about how ridiculously amazing it is over a couple of tasty adult sodas.

Something that comes up is that in this day and age everyoen claims to be a Bathory fan but 'Dude we LOVE Bathory, seriously dude no one loves Bathory as much as us amirite guys? Dude DRINKS FOR QUARTHON YES! Everyone else is posers, they don't really like Bathory, fuck them! THIS DRINK IS FOR QUARTHON! RARRGHH! :commence hellthrashing:'

*cracks open beer*

The anatomy of this song:

0:00 - 0:39: the intro, THE BELLS, the build up, you know something is coming....it's coming.....

0:40 - RIFF OF ALL RIFFS :kickass: x 3000 goat heads on sticks

"HE WANTS ME TO FOLLOW AND TO ENTER THE ETER--NAL

FIIIIIRRREEEEE!!!"

4:45 - slows down to the finger picking section.....you know it's coming again.....it's coming.....IT'S COMING.....

5:25 - RETURN OF THAT RIFF ACCOMPANIED BY THE KEYS OF KHAZAD-DHUM

"INFERNO OF HEAT, OH NO, OH NO, OH NOOOOOO.....AAARRRHGGHHH"

And now you understand the meaning of BATHORY. :worship:

As far as Bathory goes, this is one of the better songs I've heard. Unfortunately, I don't think I've ever heard a guitar recorded with less competence.

Zod

What you meen is you have never haerda guitar recorded with more DEVILISH METAL INSPIRATION! He is speaking in black tongues through the steel of his guitar strings!

You know, I should really check out my favourite band's first 3 albums sometime. The other 6 I have already seem to have been keepin me busy.
