I recently recived a copy of Battelore "Evernight" from Napalm records and basically threw it in a pile of cd's never to be heard. Well, I was bored and curious and was going through this pile and decided to listen to the one I put my hand on first. It turned out to be Battlelore "Evernight", and I popped it in and I was stunned at what I heard. What I assumed was going to be speedy "go hump your Vikings" metal turned out to be well done catchy, female/male, Elis style metal. I am now a fan. The songs are in your face metal with amazing female vocals and occasional male grunts done right. This band is definately worth it. Napalm released this cd in March as a digi-pack with 2 bonus tracks so YES I am buying this NOW. The cardboard sleeve promo with no bonus material lured me in:rock:

Lesson: never be presumptous about a metal band :p

Battlelore started as "Tolkien metal" (I.e. they look like they run off a Middle Earth LARP with elf & ork costumes and all theatrical stuff and their lyrics were about the LOTR saga) but nowdays they seem to be growing out of the subject. The female vocalist Kaisa Jouhki sings in pleasantly soft mezzo, the other half of the songs are sung by male growler Tomi Mykkänen. You better listen to them yourself:

I say this without having heard the new one yet, But ...Where Shadows Lie is my fav from them, definitely check that one out as well. Sword's Song was cool but WSL was above it in my book.

I was just checking them out on eMusic (they have all their albums, including the newest one). I knew of these guys, but was kinda like, eeh. Going back and listening to them again, I am actually impressed with that new one. I'll have to grab it when my eMusic account refills.

OMG! I dig Battlelore! Have for quite a while now. I was even throwing them up on my Progpower wishlists last year... You should check out some their videos on Youtube of their older live shows! They are awesome! Chicks with pointed ears Rule!!
