BBE sonic maximizer.

its good for a lot of things given that you don't butcher it. its good for attack on well separated drums (snares kicks toms) and its good and getting some clear presense for metal guits, and getting some sick bass tone. It can be applied anywhere, but if you turn that shit up passed like 6 then you should probably alter your eq or mic placement.

no?

I'm going to take the advice of the only guy in this thread so far who's posted an amazing (in all aspects) sounding record \m/.

haha, read my mind.

The BBE plug can be useful as long as it's not over done. I really don't ever, ever put either of the knobs past two. It's great as a sublte effect, IMO. I use it on guitars sometimes and it works for me in certain situations.

It's all in the context of use...

^This^ - there's definiately a point where you can tell someone is using one; and at that point, the dials are too high. The problem I have with guitars is I've yet to find a setting low enough where that's true - but on a flabby drum I like it.

I can only assume someone sabotaged it! hahaha... each to their own I guess... you know we still love you james.

I think that the bbe works well with some amps....but for my opinion if you like the mids of your head don't use it becouse it scoop out a lot of mids...am I wrong?

I would rather stab myself in the eye with a broken Kenny G cd! Naw, I used one for a minute, about 12 years ago, and sold it to my good buddy, Dave. You still got that thing, Dude. Just above the 1176s in your rack?:heh:

A BBE Sonic Maximizer is like a drug that you get addicted to.

When one is first introduced to it, it usualy makes them go "Man, this can make anything sound awesome".

Once you realise your addiction is runing your life and your tracks, and you set yourself free from the BBE Maximizer, you immediately realise:

"Man... that is such a piece of shit".

:)

Don't be stupid, this is just a tool, and many famous people use it, so it must not be a total piece of crap. If it sounds bad to some maybe it's because they don't use it so well. I must add though that I never used the rack version of it, just the plugin, maybe there's a difference, I don't know.
