BBE Sonic maximizers

I plan to use it primarily for guitars.

from the ones ive used in guitar rigs, theyre all virtually the same

be sure to use it in your effects loop

doesnt suit every rig, and i certainly wouldnt recommend it for recording purposes

I don;t mena in my live rig I mean to use it on mixdown through my console.

I bought one once (sonic stomp), used it for a total of 30 minutes before a show, ended up turning it off during soundcheck and never used it again.

Would not recommend.

Actually, after using one in the past few sessions I actually like it on bass shit. Sparingly of course .

I ran the 482i rackmount version with my 2 channel Dual Rec a long time ago. It added a nice compression character at lower volumes, but I just couldn't get it to sound better than the raw amp at cranked volumes in band practice so it went to ebay the next day. I have a friend who uses one with acoustic guitar and it sounds awesome. I've also heard of people sidechaning with this same unit for mixing, but I've never tried that.

I think the maximizer can be very useful, but only to correct things that are not sounding right from the source. If you have a great amp with a good cab and a good mic, you won't need it.

Actually, in light of ^ I will say that I heard one of my friend tones with some jackson, a sonic stomp through an MG half stack, and I must say, it sounded decent. lol

I would avoid it. How about you tell us about your recording rig/console and we'll find something to help you improve your tone there?

they sound cool live...technically, it corrects your phase in the lows and highs, so it makes everything sound big and clear, but i wouldn't recommend it for recording man...things will never sit well in a mix when they have been "exited"

Actually man, I'm right there with him for the most part. I can't stand it on guitar (ESPECIALLY ON GUITAR) and I can't stand it on the 2 buss, and I can't stand it on vocals and I can't stand it on...
