has anyone had experience with either of these pedals? i'd went to my local store but they have neither one. are they worth the cash? and, if so, which is better?

Yes, I've used both - but I don't like any "maximizer" pedals. They just end up some either really harsh, or just cold and digital. Get a huge band EQ instead and just tweak whatever you want it for.

I still have no idea how can this be good live...

turned my 5150 into a 15W Crate, erases midrange and creates useless low end rumble and painfull shrilly highs.

When you turn it on you think it gives you something, when you turn it OFF you can not imagine your amps sounds so great finally.

Gave it for free to my bass player, the same thing happend over time, at first he was impressed by the low end it added to his rig, but after several gigs we discovered that it's useless low end, gives nothing to the band mix and makes the bass guitar kinda dissapear in the whole picture. When turned off the bass rig finaly was dynamic and punchy again.

Right now it resides in the case unconnected couse it's got a few lights that blink cool  can't even bother to sell it

stupid device :zombie:

Man, I just got my Jeff Loomis "Zero Order Phase" album in and I'm still not sure why Loomis endorses BBE if they're so bad? I have a BBE and honestly it does sound pretty "digital" sounding with a lot of scooped mids. It's alright I guess. :erk:

Does he use it all the time, or just on the lead parts? I guess it might help a solo cut through the mix or something..?

For a metal rhythm guitar I wouldn't go for BBE. I used to have BBE rack unit (462...IIRC), used it on synths and sometimes drums. For most else it sucked, unless you're building some weirdo sound-effect.

I have an old Aural exciter 104 in my rack. I use it only live with a pod pro and my marshall 9200 power amp. I tried it one time in the studio and I didn't like it.

I also have an acoustic xciter pedal that I use it with my piezo live and in the studio.

Those two products work great...

Can't tell for bbe never tried.
