I am almost certain that while they started with the best intentions, I saw some episode of something where they admitted Fight for Your Right was satire of something.

yeh Fight for Your Right was supposed to be a satire of all the dumb late 80s hair band party songs, they were not happy that people didnt get the parody and took it seriously and that it became perhaps their biggest hit and the song a lot of people knew them for. i dont think theyve played it live for a long time.
