Behold the Reddit bomb

Nobody is even responding to or even addressing the actual claims and instead just making broad, generalized statements.

IF reddit users were using these subreddits to clandestinely exchange child pornography via private messages, and IF the relevant reddit workers involved did not do anything to stop even one of the examples that they were made aware of (even if they did stop every other), then the subreddits in which these occurrences were found should be shut down for facilitating the distribution of child pornography and arrests should be made on the count of child abuse in the cases in which absolutely nothing was done about known incidents. Remember, Joe Paterno was only not arrested because he'd told his higher up about the Sandusky incident. If he didn't do that bare minimum, he would have been thrown in jail for complicity in child abuse.

THANK YOU.
I actually agree with your point quite a bit. It's just unfortunate that bureaucratic red tape makes these things take far longer than they should. It's even more unfortunate that in many instances agencies ignore things like this due to numerous reasons, some as simple as funding or underemployment. I will disagree with the statement that vigilantism is useless; instead I will mention that it can be a hell of a lot more dangerous though - specifically though for what you mentioned: an assumption that some morality supersedes the law (which is exactly what took place with this whole SS/Reddit thing). A good question though is what does one do when the proper authorities are not interested? I've already listed the complaints of a few redditors with displeasure that CP had stayed up well after the initial reporting, and there are also general complaints you can find with others on similar subjects. Hell, I had a terrible time just getting the EPA to accept our (my coworkers and I) own testimony that the auto place we worked for was illegally dumping chemicals everywhere!

Good points.

Jailbait was not used to "clandestinely exchange" anything; it was public. The pictures shared were not "child pornography" in the same way that CP = child abuse as we think of it. Did you not read my post?

Did you not read what I said? Exchanging child pornography via private messages is absolutely clandestine. Apparently you didn't look at this image, so I'll post it for you.

Other images that Pessimism linked to, that I will not repost, suggested acknowledged inactivity from site moderators and administrators regarding obvious violations. So I restate, IF it is the case that people responsible for policing the website knew about child pornography being exchanged and even in one instance did nothing about it, the subreddits should be shut down for facilitating the distribution of child pornography, because that is exactly what would be the case. And furthermore, provided the validity of the previous scenario, those who sat on their hands knowing what was going on should be arrested.

Yeah, but the entire subreddits were shut down. Why should people sending messages to each other (which can happen across subreddits; Reddit is just the parent site and the subreddits are like smaller fora, essentially, which are user made and can be about anything) cause entire subreddits worth of content to be shut down? If it was stuff out in the open, which there apparently was, I can understand but honestly I still feel this is way too reactionary.
