Will the new Behringer ADA8200 finally bypass the preamp stage so it can be a straight up A/D converter? If not whats the upgrade?

Midas pre's, fixed the transformer issue and different converter chip is all I recall. There's a gearslutz thread out there that had the info. Can't find my link atm. I don't recall if the pre-bypass was put in.

The newer ada8000 had this problem where the d/a would go to sleep and would slowly come back awake when you feed it signal. If you tried to use one for outboard gear in Protools you know exactly what i'm talking about. You had to use a dither plugin or add constant noise to keep the d/a converter awake to even use your outboard gear and that is FUCKED. Hope they fixed that as well.

the no pre bypass is such bullshit, not saying that im to a point where it would make or break my recording. But why not do it?

The ADA8000 is suprisingly excellent. For the money it's a no brainer. I have one for 8 additional DA Stages when I am mixing analog...even I have a newer unit I never experienced the DA Mute Problem actually...maybe I got a Sunday Unit?

I'm really surprised that they haven't implemented preamp bypass and they had mentioned bringing out a standalone converter without preamps a while ago. Honestly though the pre's in the ADA8000 are pretty nice so if they manage to get the self noise down then this could be a really great buy.

My ada8000 is one of the handiest pieces of gear I own, rock solid stability with my Fireface- my Mackie loses sync with the FF sometimes and I've never had an issue with my Behringer. It sounds alright too, not really had any noise issues with it though I've only used it on stuff that wouldn't be too loud in the mix like cymbal spot mics and extra room mics for drums.

Really interested to see if the "Midas Pre's" are a sticker gimmick or if there's some genuine Alex Cooper magic in there, and if this will beat my Focusrite Octopre MkII Dynamics.

No preamp bypass/no true line in is the single most infuriating deficiency of my saffire 56.

Has anyone tried one of these yet? I am debating whether to grab one of these for $350 or to just go with a used ada8000 for $100.

was wondering if any of you guys ended up buying the 8200. Is it worth buying over the ada8000?

never had the ada8000 so i cant compare, but it has been working great for me. no stability issues whatsoever and the pres are better than average.

nice. Such a good deal at only 200USD. Will definitely get one whenever I record drums next.
