The UK thrash scene was enthusiastic, but pretty much all the bands who sprung from it were hopeless. It was either ex-Punks trying to play Metal (English Dogs, Virus, Warfare, etc) or sub-standard pub bands trying to be Metallica and falling flat on their arse (Toranaga, Xentrix, etc).
Sabbat were the only band who could actually compete with the foreign imports of the time, and were probably the only band not looking overseas for inspiration.
