  • Hellhammer (Dimmu Borgir, Mayhem)

  • Joey Jordison (Slipknot, Korn)

  • Axe (opeth)

In terms of the list, Axe (opeth, bloodbath), he was in other bands before either so it's not just Opeth. And after would go with Joey Jordison from Slipknot who is one of the best drummers in heavy music. I don't care for Hellhammer because all he does is seem to blast and his drums sound clicky like shit and find Dream Theater very gay regardless how talented they might be do not like their music because it's wanky annoying garbage.

Best/favorite metal drummers.

Benny Larsson(Edge of Sanity,Pan.Thy.Monium). `purgatory afterglow probably has my favorite drumming in metal.
Jan Rechberger(Amorphis)
Dave Lombardo(Slayer)
Jeff Singer(EX: Paradise Lost)
Bill Ward (Black Sabbath)
Cristiano Mozzati (Lacuna Coil)
Steve Flynn (Atheist)
Daniel Liljekvist (Katatonia)
Anders Schultz (Unleashed)
Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative)

Ian Paice of Deep Purple
Henrik Ohlsson of Theory In Practice
Pete Sandoval of Morbid angel
Daniel Flores of The Flower Kings, Hubi Meisel etc
Nicke Andersson of Entombed

Not a good list of drummers on the poll. Hellhammer's a great drummer though.

Other great drummers:

Inferno
Bill Ward
Dave Lombardo
Flo Mounier

From the list, Axe.

Other Great Drummers:

Mario Duplantier - Gojira
Brann Dailor - Mastodon
Thomas Haake - Meshuggah
Pete Sandoval - Morbid Angel
Igor Cavalera - Cavalera Conspiracy
Gene Hoglan - SYL, Death

Axe is great, but Hellhammer is one dimensional and I hate Slipknot so my vote goes to Portnoy.
ok understandable that you think Slipknot sucks, but Joey Jordison is actually one creative motherfucker when it comes to playing drums. Obviously not the best, but he is decent

Portnoy is way too clinical. He substitutes feel for technicality. I like drummers who can do both.
