best guitar string guage for soloing?

I use 9's... but some people tell me that a bigger size would be better.... in refrence to sound quality


Any thoughts?
 
depends on what type of soloing you're doing. 9s are good for shredding and what have you. If you're doing bluesy soloing or going to be bending a lot, I'd go with 10s or 11s.

9's and 8's are usually faster. Your guitar's scale length will also be a factor to consider when doing bends - a longer scale length will cause more tension when you bend strings. A thicker string will put more fundamental tones through your pickup, as well as adding still more tension.

Personally, I prefer something I can grab hold of without breaking immediately, so I use 10's or higher because I started with 13s and I'm used to using heavier gauge strings. The heavy gauge strings don't bother me because I still have a pretty fast vibrato.
 
since you're a girl i would suggest 8's or 9's so your weak & fragile little girl hands can manage to do bends and such

11's are for manly men with gloves of metal only
