Best guitar to get under 500 to achieve a nice Slash-like sound?

I wanted to get the same type of sound but the Slash signature guitar is way too expensive. So I was looking for something under 500.

Get one of the Les Pauls. They are pretty good. That or a strat I guess. If you go to Guitar Center, somebody there can help you. It depends on your amp though too.

My guitar is a fender hss standard stratocaster

Then you should be getting a pretty closely modulated sound. Does Slash have presets on the amp or have you tried to search and find any?

Your tone comes mostly from your fingers. If Eddie Van Halen played through
Steve Vai's setup he'd still sound like Eddie Van Halen. The type of guitar
you play doesn't mean shit.

Slash uses a low gain mid-low tone as a base with heavy gauge strings.
Use this with any electric and you're likely to get a similar result as opposed to
trying a million guitars and not being able to do it.
