Well, it's debatable whether or not to call them metal but RUSH, of course! Their music through the 70's definitely has tons of qualities that could be considered metal and they have provided inspiration for countless metal bands today and in the future.

Hmmmm Cryptopsy is the best. SYL are pretty good too, Kataklysm and Quo Vadis also. There are not alot of metal bands from Canada that seem to establish themselves around the world.

There was a band with brief existence from Saskatoon called 'pericardium' that could rip shit up. For neat drumming definately 'Mundane,' a Canada/Portugal band.

oh shit i cant believe i forgot about VOIVOD, i have all of their albums and love every single one them some way better than others though. I like the old shit and absolutely love the last half of The Outer Limit ( futuristic metal ) . Anyway, VOVOID replaces my old vote.

though my favorite album was a tape I bought for 99 cents, 1994's very underrated Agel Rat, which wasn't really metal at all. It was almost like a punk style Rush, IMO. I love it.
