Ok I know alot of us on the forum are in bands or have been in.

Why dont we share some knowledge to help all of us progress?

I would start but i dont have anything to contribute right now.

But just so we have some ground, by best methods i mean,

Recording
Gigging
Set ups
Firing
Disbanding

Anything that you can think of really.

recording:

1) practice your songs to a click.
2) make sure songs are fully written and tight between the whole band before even stepping foot into a studio
3) make sure guitars/basses are properly setup with new strings before entering a studio (more than likely you're going to retune after every take, and restring after every song finished)
4) make sure you have a fixed-bridge guitar for recording rhythms, unless the studio has one on hand. either that or block your tremolo, because recording with a tremolo is a bitch
5) make sure drum heads are new and cymbals aren't cracked/fucked up

theres probably a whole bunch more but i cba to think of them right now. but those are the big 5.

I've made a few threads on this topic. You need an I/O, a solid PC, good monitors or headphones, a solid DAW, and audio know how. You can buy all of that except the last.
