Wait.. let me clarify - I like the rest of the band pretty well, and I'm all about operatic vocals and innovative music hybrids, but I f*cking hate Tarja's damn prissy-ass opera-shit! No, I say I enjoy opera but I'm tired of it coming from Tarja. I'll admit, I haven't given Century Child a decent listening to.. You know, I heard somewhere that Tarja left the band. Is that true or was someone only teasing me? One way or another, I'm not about to vote for any of the other bands until Nightwish is gone.

No, she hasn't left... without tarja there, nightwish is just like any other band.. it wouldn't work. The band are taking a break so they can work on side projects and to allow tarja to finish her Classical signing courses in University. Your Missing out on Century Child it has to be one of the best Albums of the year!
The new Bass player( Marco ex sinergy) really rocks, and he sings on many of the tracks with tarja which adds a complete new dimensions to nightwish's music!

Half of my friends love Nightwish, the other half hate the band worse than poison *smirk* I gave up on Nightwish completely when I simply couldn't make it through a single song of their's.. ever. Something about it annoys the hell out of me. Maybe I'm just weird, besides I don't know how people can vote out Angra or cast votes against Bling Guardian MAYBE I'll give Century Child a listen, but it'll take practice to sit objectively through a whole song, muchless the entire album. My vote still goes to Nightwish until they are gone

Tarja's 25. At first i didn't like nightwish much because the vocals were hard to get used to, the more i listened to it the more i got to like it, and now i just love it,It's so symphonic, and the atmosphere created is just simply outstanding. out of all their discs though Century Childs is my fav, as you might have guessed. By the way I'm not trying to change your vote

Yeah, once upon a time I said the same things about Motley Crue, minus the stuff about opera of course.. Eventually I grew to love them. haha! I know you're not trying to change my vote.. just re-proclaiming my choice :] Besides.. I don't think we CAN change our votes

Stille, Blind GUardian is hands down the best band on this list, in my opinion. The most unique and talented songwriters, not just out of this lot, but out of most in metal. They are definitely just about my favorite band currently (Maiden goes without saying, and Priest is not Priest with Rob...so...yeah). Sonata Arctica gets my vote, because I'm juts not a huge SA fan...by the way, not being familiar with Kai Hansen, Gamma Ray OR Helloween almost disqualifies you as a fan of power metal. I mean, they INVENTED it...

i'll eventually listen out of curiosity, but only when i have time.
another band that pioneered the genre in my opinion is X-japan their one song album "art of life" is pretty original

No better example than "Slaying The Dreamer" eh? I have no problem with Tarja's vocals but I agree the male vocals make a great addition. I still prefer Wishmaster as an album but I think Century Child could be a sign of better things to come.

These days I find them absolutely boring too. However I can't bring myself to vote for them (yet) because what they did up to, and including, "Imaginations..." qualifies them as one of the best metal (not just power metal) bands I've ever heard. Too bad everything since suxass!
Gamma Ray aren't as good as they used to be either but they WERE good, and these days not as boring as BG so I can't vote for them either. Stratovarius are ok and I'm undecided about Sonata Arctika so, for me, its to Rhapsody this time.

well, i think you pegged it....I'm NOT a power metal fan...they did help invent the genre, but they have gotten boring, and they seem to lake power...which just makes them metal.

Everyone of those has some brilliant songs, so I don't know which one to choose... But I've got bored with Stratovarius and Nightwish, so... hmh, damn hard

as for Japanese: Concerto Moon! I just went back and listened to an MP3 of the instrumental "Rain Forest," a guitar showcase for Norifuma Shima - awesome!
