Best towns to live in the USA (east, central, west)

I understand the appeal of California, shit I love it here. Or rather, I loved it here until it became overpopulated. If half the people up and disappeared tomorrow morning and never came back, I'd probably stay for the rest of my days.

But no. Riverside is becoming a suburb of Los Angeles, home developers are paving all the way out to the desert now even and that just makes me angry (and maybe a little hungry).

Wouldn't you get that in Florida?

The Florida landscape and abundance of old people make that state ... teh crap

My friend just moved there with his fiancee ... God knows why ... and after 6 months he is already freaking out.

California has so many beauiful areas to live in, I am not quite sure why NAD is so itchy to move.

If you want great looking babes, nice scenery and landscape, fairly cheap real estate, no state tax and nice weather, look no further than Austin, Texas.

The Houston area has all of that except the nice weather, it's fucking hotter than Hades down here.

TEH PEEPUHL!!! Too many fuckers here, everyone has such a damn attitude. Of course it's beautiful! But those days are ending. Like I said before (in some thread today, don't know where). So Cal was not designed to handle a shitload of people. There is no public transportation to speak of, and the freeways are the only way to get around, but they aren't located in convenient areas. It's like a gigantic suburban neighborhood, with few of the advantages and all the disadvantages.

3 years ago it took me 25 minutes to get to work, a 7 mile straight shot on the freeway. If I lived there now, I guarantee it'd be 45 minutes each way daily. You have no idea how congested it is here.

so what exactly do you expect to be different in Canada?
there less densly populated areas in CA also.

public transportation sucks in most major cities. LA is so used to driving that building that damn subway system was a complete waste.

They are disappearing, seriously. I grew up in the desert right, there wasn't anybody out there except post-hippie folk living in mudhuts like my parents and a couple of rich Jews in Palm Springs. Now there are massive housing tracts popping up every week, every time I head to the desert, on the way back it's depressing how close the city is encroaching on it.

In 10 years, people will be commuting to work in LA from Arizona, I can just about guarantee it. :erk:

Florida has no natural disasters?

Sorry, I meant "aside from the natural disasters", Florida has the weather that people are after (although it's incredibly humid). Still, my point is, the real estate in Florida is DIRT CHEAP.

Florida vs Cali = hurricanes vs earthquakes. pick your poison

Well, we have an average of around 0.2 serious earthquakes per year as opposed to several hurricanes; I don't think it's that simple.

Forest fires, mudslides, police brutality, riots, 1:7 salary to housing cost ratios, endless traffic jams, and 0.2 serious earthquakes per annum still does not explain why people are moving to Cali in their hordes.

It seems that Texas and North Carolina are the places to consider most seriously, if you really want to improve your state of living. (That includes good weather).

If you're coming to Texas, stay away from Houston. Bad air, over-populated, and ugly. The outlying suburbs and areas (The Woodlands, Sugar Land, Kingwood, Pearland, Friendswood) are all very nice and worth looking into for affordable homes. Plus, the Houston economy has tons of jobs available (I should know, now if I can just get some more interviews. Got one on Friday. Wish me luck.)

If you don't mind tons of spics, San Antonio is your place.

Austin is ideal and the best place in Texas, easily. Not sure about the job market, though.

Not familiar with Dallas/Fort Worth.

yeah, no shit ... you gotta be a real schmuck to move to Florida.
and the actual good areas of Florida are just as expensive as NY for example.

that's where my friend moved to ... Sarasota.
he is a DJ, full of tattoos that used to have Manhattan as his playground ... and he is completly going apeshit down there. I forsee either a divorce or a move back to NYC.

DO NOT MOVE TO FLORIDA

It is 100% fucking boring and shitty. I lived there for a year, ugha mugha :ill: .

Discluding the Keys + other carribean areas of course =)
