Best way to compare the EQ curves of 2 different waveforms in real time?

hello there

For ages I've been wondering how to best compare different sounds EQ-wise; e.g., a gtr sim result of mine against others, or say the different bass freqs of a bd kick on a mastered record I like, to name a few.

I already imagine someone will jump in and say 'use your ears'. I already do, but a visual aid would come in very handy for me.

A real-time spectrum analyzer with visual captures I really like is the one that comes built into Audition 3. Unfortunately that's not even the DAW I work in (I use Sonar), and it has the disadvantage of course that each waveform has to be loaded into the program.

I've downloaded several free RTAs but those come with just a few bars and not much detail/options. I also thought for a while about buying a rack graphic-EQ unit with visual display and captures, and feeding an aux send to it from the main out of the interface.

Any advice or recommendations? (free or commercial, for 64bit Win)

Much obliged

Yep, I saw my mistake after posting sorry, but you could try it too ^^
